		The only facility in the country standing 1,225 meters above sea level and among the ruins of ancient French coffee growing estates, that dotted the countryside in the 18th century and today are UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites. This pleasant mountain motel is a kind of real paradise where time seems to have stood still. Giant ferns, humid forests and endemic birds abound here. This hotel –associated with La Gran Piedra National Park and within the Biosphere Reserve of Baconao Natural Park- takes its name from the huge rock weighing some 63 thousand tons that crowns the heights of the same name in the Sierra Maestra mountain range, to the east of Santiago de Cuba. This massive rock is considered to be the third biggest solid stone on the planet, according to the Guinness Book of Records. From the top of this rock the landscape is impressive and on clear days you can even see the Jamaica’s Blue Mountains.
