 Live-Aboard Luxury

Lia-A, our 90-feet-long, modern, up-scale live-aboard vessel, is based in Cienfuegos, Cuba’s main south coast port 254 kilometers (152 miles) from Havana. The hull is from the design for fast patrol boats built for the Italian Navy, giving Lia-A the strength and integrity of a naval vessel but with the comfort and luxury of a modern yacht. All decks are teak-laid.

The main deck has a large covered area aft for suiting up and hanging wet gear. It gives access to a hydraulic diving platform that lowers from deck level to the water. A boarding ladder attaches to the platform for easy exit from the water. From the main deck one enters the well-appointed saloon with comfortable seating for eight, television, video and stereo hi-fi. Forward of the saloon is the galley followed by a stairway to the wheelhouse. The forward area of the main deck holds a spacious dining room with seating for 10. The wheelhouse is equipped with modern navigation equipment including radar. From the wheelhouse a stairway leads to the upper deck which is also accessible by ladder from the main deck aft. The upper deck has a flying bridge with bimini, a shaded seating area and a sunning area. Lia-A’s tender is a fast Zodiac with a 100 horsepower Yamaha outboard, and her accessories include two Yamaha jet skis, water skis and an ocean canoe. The lower deck, with access from the saloon, houses two cabins fore and aft with double bunks and two mid-ship side cabins with twin single bunks. All cabins have portholes and en suite bathrooms with toilet and shower. The saloon, dining room and all cabins are carpeted, curtained and fully air conditioned.

All in all Lia-A is a first class yacht, luxurious but not pretentious, that gives pleasure and relaxation to all those aboard. Her English-speaking crew, comprised of a captain, engineer, dive master, chef and attendant, is highly qualified, friendly and accommodating. In fact she is perfect for a relaxing cruise as well as for diving. And not least, our superb chef will lay out before you a seemingly endless variety of sumptuous food and drink.

 Cruising and Diving Areas
LiA-A in Cienfuegos Marine
From Cienfuegos Lia-A has easy access to both the Canarreos archipelago to the west and to the Queen’s Gardens archipelago to the east, both of which are extended chains of hundreds of virgin islands and keys, uninhabited except for their natural wildlife that includes iguanas, tropical birds and in a few cases monkeys. Scattered throughout these waters are pristine coral reefs, walls and caves with abundant fish and other sea fauna like lobsters, crabs and turtles. Our dive areas are out of reach of shore-based diving operations thus making them almost exclusively ours. Indeed, we rarely see another dive boat in our areas. Our south coast cruising waters are normally calm but breezy, and the clarity of the water itself gives divers extraordinary visibility. The islands provide many sheltering areas for anchoring at night or for waiting out an occasional storm.
 Availability and Cost
Lia-A is available for charters beginning any day of the week for an all-inclusive fee of $2500 per day for up to 8 guests, divers and non-divers. This includes use of the diving equipment, as many dives as you like including night dives, use of the jet skis and tender, and all food and beverages, except wine and spirits which are extra. We suggest diving with Lia-A as the highlight of a seven-day package that includes:
