If during your stay on the Island
you wish to maintain your personal telephone communications,
we can make this service available to you thanks to
a joint program with Cubacel, the leading cellular phone
company in Cuba.
|
|
If your cell phone is compatible with the American standard
(TDMA) - either dual or digital - you can use it with
no difficulty in Cuba. You only need to activate it at the
rate of $3 US per day. You can also rent a cell phone here.
If you rent a cell phone you must make a $200 US deposit
which will be refunded when you return the phone, as long
as everything is in good working order.
At the time of activation, you have to estimate how many
minutes of telephone time you are likely to use and then pay
for a calling credit in advance. Just before the credit expires,
you will receive a message on the phone itself letting you
know how much credit you have left.
Each time you request an extention of service you may need
to purchase another calling credit in advance. If there is
any doubt about this procedure, you may call us at this number:
(53-7) 80-2222.
We will make sure your cell phone and/or the activation of
such are ready upon your arrival. Please feel free to contact
us at any either before or during your trip.
Other Facilities Included in the Above Rates
Call Waiting: A new call may come in while you are on the phone.
This service allows you to
briefly pause one call and answer the incoming one. Neither
of your two callers will hear your conversation with the other.
Three-way Conferencing: This service allows you to
incorporate a third person into your conversation
- a very useful service for business meetings.
Call Transfer: You can redirect incoming calls to another telephone number.
Executive Voice Mail: This service operates as a
message collecting center when your cell phone is not within the
service area or is turned off. Incoming calls will be recorded
and stored in your personal mailbox and can be retrieved by
you at any time; you can even temporarily save and store messages.
This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Facilities Not Included in the Above Rates
At an additional cost, you can request the Caller ID service,
which allows you to see the callers phone number displayed
on your cell phone (if it is DUAL). This is only possible
when the caller is using a cell phone or a digital telephone
service. Long distance calls are not included in this service.
If the number of the caller is registered in your phones
memory, his or her identification name will be displayed.
For this Caller ID service you must pay an initial fee of
$3.00 US, plus a monthly rate of $2.50 US.
If you wish to keep your cell phone number private, you can
block your number so that it is not displayed on the phones
you call. You can set this block for all your calls and deactivate
this feature whenever you want, or just use it before making
a particular call.
In addition to the price paid for the above basic services,
you will be charged the corresponding rates for all the long
distance calls you make.
Roaming International Rates:
North America (except Mexico): $2.45 US/minute; Central America,
México and the Caribbean: $3.40 US/minute; South America:

Roaming National Rates:
These rates depend on the time of the day you make your call
(day or night) and on the part of the country you are calling.
